Review of Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews. An urban fantasy novel about a witch and her magical inn with strong worldbuilding.
My review of Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews
Clean Sweep is an urban fantasy about Dina Demille who runs a magical bed & breakfast in Texas.
A fun and enjoyable summer read with an interesting magic system and good strong worldbuilding and some hot guys and of course a very capable female protagonist and mystery.
In other words good solid urban fantasy and I really enjoyed it.
My review from 2014 of Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews
Title: Clean Sweep
Author: Ilona Andrews
Series: Innkeeper Chronicles, book 1
Genre: Urban fantasy
This is really good solid urban fantasy and I really enjoyed it. It is not a very deep book with lots of themes that you will ponder for days, however it was the perfect summer read. It has action, an interesting magic system, good worldbuilding, some hot guys, a very capable female protagonist and mystery. In other words good solid urban fantasy and I really enjoyed it.
I really liked the magic system focused on the inns. I really liked that Dina is super powerful on her home turf, but that her power is very limited outside it. That makes for a most much interesting story.
Andrews takes on werewolves and vampires are really interesting and rather cool. I really like out of the box takes on both races. And I really like that both gets to be predators and that is part is part of the appeal.
The first book is self contained with a satisfying ending, however when I finished reading Clean Sweep, I really wanted to read the second book right away, but it isn’t out until later in the year.
